Omaha, NE, August 24, 2022 — Omaha Leaders announced today that their fourth Leaders Lunch season launches September 8th with a message from Jim Sadler, Former General Manager of Westroads Mall and current Thrivent Financial Advisor. Jim led Westroads during numerous critical seasons, including the 2007 Von Maur shooting. His message will focus on maintaining leadership excellence in crisis situations.

DeMond Bush was living in his friend’s basement in Louisville, Kentucky, in 2017 when he heard about a job that could help him get beyond his past. Since getting out of prison two years earlier, the 43-year-old had cycled through day labor and temp work but hadn’t been able to find anything steady. He’d spent more than two decades behind bars for a violent crime that he was charged with as a teenager.

Google Named Nebraska Business Of The Year

LINCOLN, NEB – The Nebraska Diplomats named Google as the state's business of the year. The Diplomats, a statewide economic development organization, presented the awards at a banquet Tuesday, August 9th in Kearney.

Governor Pete Ricketts and the Nebraska Department of Economic Development presented the award to Google's Dan Harbeke, Head of Public Policy and External Affairs.

Effort To Interest Teens In Nebraska High-Tech Manufacturing Careers Awards New Grants

LINCOLN — Gov. Pete Ricketts’ effort to interest more Nebraska teens in high-tech, manufacturing and health care jobs in the state handed out two new grants on Monday.

Hebron-based MetalQuest and 21st Century Equipment, a John Deere dealership with outlets in western Nebraska, Wyoming and Colorado, received grants of $125,000 each through the Developing Youth Talent Initiative, launched by Ricketts in 2015.
