Insurance Fraud Costs $309 Billion A Year – Nearly $1,000 For Every American

That’s how much insurance fraud costs every American a year – $309 billion in total, according to the findings of a recent research study that I led. For a family of four, that adds up to nearly $3,800 – about enough to finance a small family vacation.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The company that makes Jack Daniel's is howling mad over a squeaking dog toy that parodies the whiskey's signature bottle. Now, the liquor company is barking at the door of the Supreme Court.

Activists Argue For Dismissal Of Lawsuit Filed Over Controversial Development Near Lincoln’s Wilderness Park

LINCOLN — Attorneys for Native American activists asked a judge Friday to dismiss a lawsuit filed against them by the City of Lincoln over the right to appeal a controversial zoning decision.

The court action was a continuation of protests over the approval of a housing development called Wilderness Crossing adjacent to Lincoln’s Wilderness Park and near a site where sweat lodge ceremonies are conducted.

Iowa Care Facility Cited For Second Death In 15 Months

A central Iowa care facility that was cited for contributing to the death of a resident last year was cited this week for a second death.

Northridge Village of Ames was cited this week for a death in September that stemmed from a resident’s untreated urinary tract infection. Last year, the home was cited for a June 2021 death that resulted from a resident’s fall at the facility.

Nebraska Agrees To Settlement With Walmart In Lawsuit Over Opioid Dispensing

LINCOLN — Nebraska has given its OK to a $3 billion settlement with Walmart in a lawsuit alleging that the company contributed to the opioid addiction crisis by failing to properly oversee the dispensing of the highly addictive painkillers.
