LINCOLN — Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen is facing pushback for some of his property tax reform ideas from some of his closest agricultural allies in the Legislature. He may need their support to pass reforms during a special session expected this month.

Winnebago Tribe Celebrates Return Of Land Taken Along The Missouri River

LINCOLN — The Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska is celebrating the righting of a five-decade-old wrong.

The U.S. Senate unanimously passed a bill last week that will return about 1,600 acres of land to the tribe along the Missouri River that was taken illegally in the 1970s for a proposed recreation project.

Unfinished Marshbanks Mansion/Barndominium Now Offered For Sale At Record Price

LINCOLN – A mansion being built by a local businessman implicated in a multimillion-dollar bank fraud case has a new name and a record-high price.

The partly finished luxury home and “barndominium” being built by Aaron Marshbanks in east Lincoln is now called “The Plainsman” and, when mostly finished, is being offered for sale at $6.469 million.

Nebraska’s Cowboy Trail Still Incomplete Nearly 30 Years Later

Kris Ferguson had a quick reply when someone asked how she and a small group of volunteers managed to finish a 17-mile stretch of the long-planned but unfinished Cowboy Trail in northwest Nebraska.

“Oh it’s easy,” Ferguson responded. “You just need someone who’s willing to go out and get hit by a car while riding their bike.”
