OCF Launches Data Website Sharing Community Indicators
The Omaha Community Foundation has launched a comprehensive platform to house its data indicator project, The Landscape.
The community-driven data project presents credible, comprehensive findings to better understand key quality of life issues for the Omaha-Council Bluffs area.
The Landscape can now be found on the foundation’s website at omaha
foundation.org/research, where it provides data collected from more than 25 public sources in eight priority areas: health, safety, workforce, civic engagement, neighborhoods, transportation, education, and arts & culture.
Among the findings from the data on the new site are:
• The rates of homelessness in our community have almost doubled between 2015 and 2019.
• The median wage gap has grown 18% between people who are white and people of color since 2015.
• Local voter turnout continues to rise, and recent turnout rates have increased by over 24%, putting us above the national average.
“The goal of this project is to empower and engage the community and various stakeholders with public data to help explore how we can come together collectively to address systemic challenges and opportunities throughout the Omaha-Council Bluffs region,” OCF President and CEO Donna Kush said in a news release. “We’re excited to launch our new, more interactive site with the community as we continue to better understand how our collaborative investments can generate impact and expand opportunity for all.”
The Landscape is a community resource launched in 2016 that can help set priorities, identify areas for collaboration, and inform decision-making on investments.
