Small Businesses Can Turn to Digital Tools to Benefit the Community
Nebraskans across the state are spending extra time with their beloved pets and some are even considering adding a new furry friend to their family. And thankfully, more and more people are supporting charitable causes across the state, including those which advocate for animal rights and animal welfare.
The Omaha community in particular has always supported the betterment and well-being of animals. This year, whether through charitable donations or simply amplifying the importance of animal welfare on social media channels, please consider supporting the adoption and humane treatment of animals in Nebraska.
Our business, Cogs Dogs, is donating 100% of recent Pawlidays sales toward the welfare of animals. Proceeds will be split between PAWS-itive Partners Humane, Promise 4 Paws, and Harbor of Hope Dog Rescue. We want to do our part to share in the mission to give back to dog shelters and rescues, as so many Nebraskans already have.
The idea for Cogs Dogs started when we adopted a senior dog in need of a home after seeing it on a Facebook post. Since then, we’ve continued to help shelter pets across Nebraska find loving homes. Every dog deserves a loving family, and it’s up to us to give it to them.
To simplify our mission, we turned to social media as a sales platform. We started selling our products directly on Facebook through the Shops tool, which has backend compatibility with multiple e-commerce websites. Turning to digital tools has helped us build an online presence in a way that’s simple for potential customers to understand.
Understanding that not every family has the means to adopt, donate, or purchase products, I wanted to share an alternative for those committed to the welfare of animals: Spread the word!
On our social media pages, we do our best to share adoption opportunities and amplify events that occur across the state. We commonly post Instagram Reels spotlighting dogs we meet through volunteering that are in need of a forever home. We encourage you to join in by sharing posts and informing your social media network.
With the majority of Nebraskans using social media in some capacity, “digital volunteers” can help us spread the word like never before. It might sound cheesy, but every like, share, or post could help supply a shelter in need or help a dog find a loving home. Sometimes, word of mouth can be as important to the mission of animal welfare as standalone donations.
Every dog sitting in a Nebraska shelter right now deserves a loving family and safe home. It’s up to us to give it to them. Whether through direct donations, purchasing our products, or simply amplifying the message on your social channels, thank you for helping animals in need.
