ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) — The man charged with murder in the killing of the CEO of UnitedHealthcare made it clear he wasn’t going to make things easy for authorities, shouting unintelligibly and writhing in the grip of sheriff’s deputies as he was led into court and then objecting to being taken to New York to face trial.

A federal judge in Texas rejected the auction sale of Alex Jones’ Infowars to The Onion satirical news outlet, criticizing the bidding for the conspiracy theory platform as flawed as well as how much money families of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary shooting stood to receive.

President-elect Donald Trump often said during the 2024 presidential campaign that he plans to launch the nation’s largest-ever mass deportation operation in his second term.

Trump has pledged to carry out this work by using an obscure 18th-century law called the Alien Enemies Act of 1798.

Far Fewer Seek State Concealed Carry Permits After 2023 Law Allows Carrying Without One

LINCOLN — Advocates for removing the requirement for a state permit to carry a concealed handgun argued that Nebraska gun owners would still obtain the license because it lets them legally carry in some other states.

But state statistics indicate that hasn’t been the case.

Results Certified For Nebraska’s 2024 General Election

LINCOLN — Nebraska’s state constitutional officers have officially certified the November 2024 general election, which includes the formal approval of five ballot measures.

The State Canvassing Board on Monday unanimously accepted the election results for all but one race — a seat on the Dawson Public Power District, which will head to an automatic recount Wednesday morning.

On Monday, Special Counsel Jack Smith filed motions to dismiss the two pending criminal cases against Donald Trump, the D.C. case centered on his actions to subvert the result of the 2020 election and the Florida case about classified documents.

The legal system failed.
