NASA is planning to put U.S. astronauts back on the surface of the Moon by the end of 2024. This mission is just the beginning of what is shaping up to be a historic few decades in space exploration, as both the U.S. and China have plans to establish a permanent human presence on the Moon.

Drug Enforcement Administration Announces Spring Take Back Day

OMAHA, NE – The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and its partners will host the 24th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day at more than 4,000 sites nationwide on Saturday, April 22, in an effort to safely collect tablets, capsules, patches and other solid forms of prescription drugs. Take Back sites will be open for collection between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., at more than 150 locations across the DEA Omaha Division.

Nebraska Public Media Joins ‘NOVA’ Series For ‘Climate Across America’ Initiative

Nebraska Public Media is telling the story of the struggle to protect pallid sturgeons, as well as manage Missouri River flooding, as part of a national “Climate Across America” initiative that pairs public media stations with the award-winning PBS science series “NOVA” to produce and distribute multiplatform, climate-focused content. LINCOLN, Neb. (April 5, 2023) – For thousands of years, pallid sturgeon have thrived in the murky waters of the Missouri River, but infrastructure built 70 years ago for flood control and river navigation are endangering the survival of this ancient fish.

Town Hosted Negro League Clubs And Likely One Of The First Major League Baseball Games Played In Nebraska

The Kansas City Royals’ 7-3 victory over Detroit in June 2019 before a sellout crowd of 25,454 at Omaha’s TD Ameritrade Park carried a level of distinction: It was the first Major League Baseball game played in Nebraska. Major League Baseball said so, as did national and local media outlets.

And it was. Until it wasn’t.

BELLEVUE — A “point in time” homeless count revealed some startling scenarios in Nebraska’s fastest-growing county, even to those who work daily with low-income populations.

Lift Up Sarpy County, in cooperation with several partners, sent teams out during a four-hour period Jan. 23 to try to get an estimate of people without permanent homes.

Minnesota Train Derailment, Ethanol Fire Renew Safety Fears

PRINSBURG, Minn. (AP) — Hundreds of people had to evacuate their Minnesota town after a train hauling ethanol and corn syrup derailed and caught fire early Thursday, but authorities were hopeful that the quick response and cold weather would help limit the impact of this latest crash.
