Blue Collar Boxing: Tickets Now On Sale For November 23 Event

Tickets are now on sale for the hottest event in town, Blue Collar Boxing 2022! This charity boxing tournament, hosted by the Omaha Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, and United Way of the Midlands, will take place on Wednesday, November 23, at Liberty First Credit Union Arena in Ralston.

Local Theatre Company Tours Play Written Inside Nebraska State Penitentiary

OMAHA, Neb.- Anastasis Theatre Co. is set to tour its production of More than a Number, a play inspired by and created in collaboration with residents of The Nebraska Prison System.

Nobel Prize Season Arrives Amid War, Nuclear Fears, Hunger

This year's Nobel Prize season approaches as Russia's invasion of Ukraine has shattered decades of almost uninterrupted peace in Europe and raised the risks of a nuclear disaster. The famously secretive Nobel Committee never leaks or hints who will win its prizes for medicine, physics, chemistry, literature, economics or peace. The awards will be announced starting next Monday. But there is no lack of causes deserving the spotlight that comes with winning the world's most prestigious prize.

Paving The Way For Change Is The Theme For Omaha Chamber’s Oct. 6 Diversity Conference

Making change in the community is the impetus of the 2022 Conference on Opportunity, Diversity and Equity, hosted by the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce. With 15 breakout sessions ranging from inclusion, insensitivity, and building diversity to addressing burnout, “Paving the Way for Equitable Change" is the theme for the fourth annual conference, which will be held at CHI Health Center Omaha Oct. 6.

Flipping Profits Up In Q2

According to the latest U.S. Home Flipping Report from ATTOM, 115,198 single-family houses and condominiums were flipped in Q2, 2022 representing 8.2% of all home sales in Q2.  Interestingly, ATTOM points out that profit margins improved in Q2 as median resale price trends on flipped homes greatly improved.  Specifically, the typical resale price on flipped homes reached another all-time high in Q2 of $328k up 21.5% from the same period one year ago.

Dick Turpin Outdoor Education Memorial Fund Established

Legendary Nebraska outdoorsman Dick Turpin loved connecting people to the outdoors. Since his passing earlier this year, his family, along with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, have established a way to keep that spirit going.

When Michelle Collins graduated from nursing school in the 1980s, there was a workforce shortage. There were incentive programs and scholarships to encourage people to enter the field. Hospitals and other health systems created programs that would fund aspiring nurses’ educations with an obligated work contract.

US Stocks Slip Deeper Into A Slump As Recession Fears Grow

Stocks fell on Wall Street and put major indexes deeper into a slump as recession fears grow. The S&P 500 fell 1% Monday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Nasdaq also fell. The losses were broad and included banks, health care companies and retailers.

Airbnb Hosts Are Sick Of Airbnb, Too
