32 Nebraska Private Firms Rank Report Rapid Growth

Thirty-two Nebraska companies have been named to Inc. business magazine’s list of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the United States.
Companies on the 2021 Inc. 5000 are ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2017 to 2020. The list only includes companies founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2017, and those that are independent — not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies — as of Dec. 31, 2020.
Nebraska had 25 companies on the list in 2020.
Among them is Berry Law Firm, a Lincoln-based law firm that ranked No. 1,903 overall and reported 235% growth over three years.
“A lot of companies will make the list two or three times and fall off. We were looking for consistent and exponential growth,” Managing Partner and CEO John S. Berry Jr. said in a news release. “The Inc. 5000 measures grit and determination. It’s a validation that our commitment, focus, and discipline have paid off.”
Berry Law represents clients in personal injury, criminal defense and veterans disability benefits cases. Berry said the firm aims to represent 10,000 veterans by the end of 2022.
Berry Law recently held a grand opening open house for its downtown Omaha offices at 1414 Harney St. Berry Law was the only Nebraska law firm on the Inc. 5000 list this year.
Viking Industrial Painting was among the magazine’s featured businesses. It ranked No. 174.
The Omaha firm specializes in patching and repainting municipal water tower tanks, which need upkeep every 15 to 20 years, according to Inc. magazine’s feature. The company has seen 2,433% growth in revenue over three years.
“We do the dirty work,” co-owner Rory Sudbeck told Inc. “The stuff that no one else really wants to do.”
Three other Nebraska companies ranked in Inc.’s top 500:
• No. 182 – Franchise FastLane, which provides turnkey franchise sales, based in Omaha.
• No. 448 — KPI Ninja, which provides health care technology, based in Lincoln.
• No. 463 — Merchant Processing Pros, which offers merchant process servers to e-commerce and other card-not-present merchants, based in Elkhorn.
“Nebraska is a great place to grow a business,” Gov. Pete Ricketts said in a news release. “Our state has a highly educated workforce, affordable cost of living, and a growth-oriented regulatory climate. Congratulations to the innovative companies across the state that made this year’s Inc. 5000 list.”
Two other Nebraska companies were included in the top 1000 fastest-growing companies:
• No. 629 — CompanyCam, a Lincoln-based provider of a documentation tool for the home services industry.
• No. 754 — North End Teleservices, an Omaha-based commercial and governmental services contact center.
“We are honored to again be named to the Inc. 5000,” said Carmen Tapio, owner, president and CEO, North End Teleservices, LLC. “With more than 30 million small businesses in the U.S., we are grateful to be part of this elite group, and look forward to continuing our mission of ‘creating jobs and changing lives.’”
Among the Inc. 5,000, the average median three-year growth rate soared to 543%, and median revenue reached $11.1 million. Together, those companies added more than 610,000 jobs over the past three years.
The Nebraska companies saw a median growth rate of 149% and a total revenue of $2.3 billion. They created about 1.96 million jobs.
“The 2021 Inc. 5000 list feels like one of the most important rosters of companies ever compiled,” Scott Omelianuk, editor-in-chief of Inc., said in a statement. “Building one of the fastest-growing companies in America in any year is a remarkable achievement. Building one in the crisis we’ve lived through is just plain amazing. This kind of accomplishment comes with hard work, smart pivots, great leadership, and the help of a whole lot of people.”
