Ralston City Council Meeting
Tuesday, June 18, 2024

The Ralston City Council met in regular session on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at 5:30 PM at Ralston City Hall. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Roll was called with the following present: Mayor Groesser and Council members Kavanaugh, Brousek, Kjar, Krause Preis, and Fideline. Absent: None.
The agenda was available at City Hall for public inspection and posted prior to the meeting. The legal notice for the meeting was published in the Daily Record. Claims listed are approved and part of these minutes.
Pastor Jim Haack, Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church gave the invocation. Mayor Groesser welcomed the press and guests. Groesser said the meeting is subject to the Nebraska Open Meetings Act. A copy of the Act is posted at the rear of the Council Chambers and is available to view on the City’s website at www.cityofralston.com.
The City Council reviewed the following items under the consent agenda. Approval of City Council Minutes from June 4th Council Meeting: Approval of Claims; Financial Statements - May 31, 2024; Department Head and/or Commission Reports. Moved and seconded to approve the Consent Agenda. Aye: Brousek, Kjar, Preis, Kavanaugh, Krause and Fideline. Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.
Dittmer distributed his report stating the team is continuing their work on pot holes. The ball fields and the parks have been getting a lot of use. AT&T is finishing their work on 72nd street. ALLO is working on the north side of town. Leonardo gave May’s traffic report. There were a total of one hundred ninety - nine traffic stops. Leonardo informed council that all cameras are up and working within the city. Peña noted the summer reading program started June 1st. Hoppe gave an update on events scheduled at the Liberty First Credit Union Arena. Hoppe noted the WarHorse Casino is spending Forty-seven thousand dollars for a one year sponsorship at the arena. Roeder reported that Yoga on the green started June 3rd. Roeder stated that an events postcard went out to all residents and another will be delivered soon. Hoppe reported that he and others will be meeting with the police union tomorrow. Hoppe stated that he thinks they are getting close to a contract. Hoppe reported that the Metropolitan Utilities District reached out and they have a new proposal for our expired water agreement.
Kavanaugh introduced Ordinance No. 1330. Kelly Ryan read Ordinance No. 1330 by title only: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 16, ARTICLE II, OF THE RALSTON MUNICIPAL CODE TITLED PAPILLION CREEK WATERSHED; TO REPEAL ALL PROVISIONS IN CONFLICT THEREWITH; TO PROVIDE AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND TO AUTHORIZE THAT SAID ORDINANCE BE PUBLISHED IN PAMPHLET FORM.

Public Comment: None. Council Comment: Mayor Groesser wished everyone a safe Independence Day. The meeting adjourned at 5:57 PM. The next meeting is Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 5:30 PM.

The Ralston City Council will hold a public hearing at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. The purpose of the public hearing is to consider the 3rd reading of Ordinance No. 1330, an ordinance pertaining to revising and amending Chapter 16, Article II of the Ralston Municipal Code. Public comments will be accepted. An agenda will be kept current and available for public inspection at the Office of the City Clerk, 5500 S. 77th Street, Ralston, Nebraska 68127.
