Food Stamps Piloting Online Purchasing, Grocery Delivery
Lincoln – A pilot program will allow online purchasing and grocery delivery using benefits from the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program administered by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.
Nebraska is a pilot state for online purchasing selected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The state has 154,844 residents relying on the SNAP program, which is commonly called food stamps.
Eight retailers were authorized participate in the program: Amazon, Dash’s Market, FreshDirect, Hy-Vee, Safeway, ShopRite, Walmart and Wright’s Markets. Currently, in Nebraska, Amazon and Walmart are the only qualified retailers.
