Lawyer Returns from Florida to Run Omaha Labor Relations Division
Attorney David Grauman is returning to Nebraska to become the director of the City of Omaha’s Labor Relations Division.
Grauman was assistant director from January 2018 to June 2019 before leaving to become an associate attorney at the McCalla Raymer Leibert Pierce law firm in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
“We are fortunate that Dave accepted our offer to return to Omaha,” Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert said in a release. “He has a wide range of experience in reviewing policies and conducting investigations. He will be an asset to our employees and the Human Resources Department.”
Grauman will resume work at the city Sept. 4 as a provisional employee, and he will be a candidate for the permanent position.
The director of labor relations is part of a team that negotiates contracts with city employee unions, investigates union grievances, investigates and recommends employee disciplinary actions and investigations allegations of discrimination made by city employees. Grauman will also manage workers’ compensation claims.
Grauman developed Stothert’s 2018 executive order on sexual harassment, the release noted.
The position reports to the director of human resources. The Omaha Personnel Board will consider a recommended salary of $105,643 for Grauman.
Grauman is a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha and the Ave Maria School of Law in Naples, Florida.
Prior to 2018, Grauman was in-house counsel for the Nebraska Department of Corrections, where he worked on various legal matters, including labor and employment law issues.
