(Omaha, NE) - The economic development team works with the Mayor, City departments, developers, and the Greater Omaha Chamber to recruit new business to Omaha, expand existing businesses, and bring development projects to successful completion.

Jacquelyn Morrison joins the Mayor's staff as Deputy Chief of Staff for Economic Development and Development Services after serving in the State of Nebraska Department of Economic Development (OED) and the Revenue Department. At OED, she worked as the Administrator of the state's tax incentive division where she was responsible for launching and overseeing lmagiNE Nebraska, the state's largest tax incentive program designed to attract and retain companies in Nebraska.

She is a graduate of George Washington University and earned a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center in 2012.

"It is an honor to be chosen for this position. Under Mayor Stothert's leadership we have seen the Omaha economy grow and thrive," said Morrison. "Across our city there are countless infrastructure projects underway and even more businesses looking to expand, I welcome the opportunity to work on our existing projects and new opportunities that will enhance our economy, communities, and businesses."

Morrison replaces Kevin Andersen who returned to a private sector position. Her annual salary is $113,000.

Mayor Stothert will also hire a replacement for Troy Anderson who accepted a position as Assistant City Manager in Wichita, Kansas.

During the transition, former Omaha Planning Director Steve Jensen will return part-time. Jensen retired as Planning Director in 2009.

"Under the Mayor's guidance, together with the City Council, the City has emerged from the pandemic in great shape. There is tremendous momentum throughout the city and in particular within the urban core. I am happy to help keep things moving during this transition period. It's an exciting time in the development of the City," said Jensen.

Jensen has worked on numerous large development projects including the RiverFront, AkSarBen Village, Midtown Crossing, Charles Schwab Field and the streetcar. He recently worked with the Greater Omaha Chamber's Urban Core Committee to prepare the Urban Core Strategic Plan and is already under contract with the City as a planning consultant.
