The Omaha Police Department is once again participating in the Pink Patch Project.
Started in the Los Angeles area to increase awareness and support for breast cancer research and treatment, the project has Omaha police officers switching out their official agency uniform patches with a pink patch.
This is the fourth consecutive year of participation by the Omaha Police Department, which has spearheaded the involvement of law enforcement agencies across Nebraska, according to an OPD news release. Other police departments participating include Bellevue, Blair, Boys Town, La Vista, Papillion, Plattsmouth and Ralston, plus the Douglas, Sarpy and Washington sheriff’s offices.
“We look forward to continued involvement in future years and encourage all law enforcement agencies across the state to join us,” OPD said in a statement.
The public can support the Pink Patch Project by purchasing pink swag at bytmp.com/collections/pink-patch-project to support the Hereditary Cancer Foundation, which was founded by Brandi Preston, daughter of former Omaha Police Officer Kamie Preston who died of breast cancer in 2005.
