Papillion, Neb., Nov. 15, 2022 – Midlands Community Foundation (MCF) is pleased to announce that Randy Sump will receive the Reflection Award at the organization’s 2023 Reflection Ball on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at the Embassy Suites in LaVista. Each year MCF honors an individual or individuals who have contributed significantly to Sarpy and/or Cass counties and the mission of the Foundation with its Reflection Award.

Randy Sump holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Kearney State College and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Following his early career with various communications companies, Randy owned RTR Enterprises d/b/a Fast Lane Food and Fuel. He is the current owner of Oak Leaf Enterprises, where he designs, constructs, and operates commercial real estate properties and land development projects.

Randy served on MCF’s Board of Directors as Vice President, Grants Committee Chair and Asset Growth Chair during the Foundation’s growth and transition from a private foundation to a public charity in 2009. Specifically, he was instrumental in restructuring the Foundation to enable local communities in Sarpy and Cass counties to establish their own community foundations as Affiliated Funds, and to enable many nonprofit organizations and individuals to establish Designated, Donor Advised, and Endowed Funds under MCF’s 501(c)(3). Randy also has served various Gretna organizations (Gretna KIDS Committee; Youth Activities Association; Resurrection Lutheran Church Council; LB1018 Committee; and YMCA Exploratory Committee) as well as the University of Nebraska President’s Advisory Council. He currently serves on the Voss-Mohr Cemetery Association Board; Sarpy County Economic Development Corp. County Infrastructure Committee; University of Nebraska Foundation’s Board of Trustees; Sarpy County Sheriff’s Foundation Board; and the University of Nebraska at Kearney Capital Campaign Committee.

Randy grew up in Sarpy County, spending most of his time in the Gretna and Springfield areas. Randy’s grandpa, Wally Sump, was a past recipient of the Reflection Award. He was a huge influence on Randy, introducing him to individuals and dealings with city and county government and local businesses. Randy and his wife Christina are building a new home on his grandma and grandpa’s farm south of Papillion.

Randy enjoys golf, time with his family, and leisure time in Phoenix. He has one son and four stepsons.

During his tenure, Randy was the driving force in transitioning MCF from a private foundation to a public charity which resulted in significant growth for the Foundation. Honorary Chairs for the event are Patricia and Rick Iske, owners of Coyote Creek Farms, Inc., a corn/soybean farming business, and Rick Iske Insurance, a crop risk management company. “We are looking forward to working with Patricia and Rick and the Reflection Ball Committee to plan and carry out a successful event so that we can continue to provide financial support to non-profit organizations that provide programs and services within Sarpy and Cass counties,” said Diane Knicky, Executive Director.

The mission of MCF is to be a catalyst for lasting impact in Sarpy and Cass counties and to give opportunities to organizations and individuals so that they can pursue their charitable goals.
