NOTICE OF SPECIAL HEARING TO SET FINAL TAX RATES

The Board of Equalization in Douglas County, is hereby giving Public Notice, in compliance with the provisions of the State Statute Section 77-1601.02, that the governing body will meet on the 5th day of November, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. in the Legislative Chamber, Omaha-Douglas Civic Center, 1819 Farnam Street, Omaha, Nebraska for the purpose of hearing the justification for approving necessary adjustments to the tax levies through a resolution which corrects and amends certain of the rates of taxation originally approved on October 15, 2019.

Notice of Public Meeting of the

Douglas County Board of Equalization,

and the Douglas County

Board of Commissioners

Notice is hereby given that on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, the Douglas County Board of Equalization, and the Douglas County Board of Commissioners will meet consecutively beginning at 9:00 a.m.  The meetings will be held at the Omaha-Douglas Civic Center, 1819 Farnam, Legislative Chambers, Omaha, NE.  The meetings will be open to the general public.

A list of applications from organizations seeking tax exemption, descriptions of the property, and recommendations of the Douglas County Assessor/Register of Deeds, to be heard by the Douglas County Board of Equalization on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, are available in the Douglas County Assessor/Register of Deeds office.

The meeting agendas, kept continually current, are readily available for public inspection in the Commissioners’ Office in the Civic Center during normal business hours.  Also available for public inspection will be any corresponding documentation that is provided to the Commissioners’ Office prior to the weekly County Board meeting.  Except for items of an emergency nature, the agendas shall not be enlarged later than 24 hours before the scheduled meeting commencement.  The Board has the right to modify its agenda to include items of an emergency nature only when the meeting is in session.

Committee meetings scheduled for the month will be listed on the County’s website at www.douglascounty-ne.gov and on the County Board Agenda.

The Douglas County Board of Commissioners will meet at the Venue at Highlander, 2120 N. 30th Street, Omaha, NE at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, November 4, 2019, to meet with the Lancaster and Sarpy County Board of Commissioners to discuss legislative initiatives and issues of mutual concern.

1. Update/discussion of health insurance coverage for dependents (up to age 30)

2. Proposal to move all employees to Arrears payroll

3. Discussion of 2020 legislative priorities and issues

4. Discussion of Virgin Pulse Wellness Program

5. Discussion regarding 2020 wage increases for Public Defender, Clerk/Comptroller, Sheriff Captains, District Court and Juvenile Court bailiffs and other staff, Deputy County Attorneys, Assistant Public Defenders, Chief Deputies, CMHC Medical Director and psychiatrists, and DCHC physicians.

Executive Session: We reserve the right to enter an executive session in order to protect the public interest with respect to discussion regarding labor negotiations, litigation, personnel and real estate.

A list of committee agendas will be kept continually current and made available by the Board Secretary, LC 2, or at the Douglas County Website. Recordings of prior committee meetings will be kept on file in the office of the Douglas County Clerk.
