NOTICE OF BUDGET HEARING AND BUDGET SUMMARY

 

PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given, in compliance with the provisions of State Statute Sections 13-501 to 13-513, that the governing body will meet on the 12th day of August 2025, at 6:30 o’clock P.M., at Omaha/Douglas Civic Center LC, 1819 Farnam St for the purpose of hearing support, opposition, criticism, suggestions or observations of taxpayers relating to the following proposed budget. The budget detail is available at the office of the Clerk during regular business hours.

 

2024 Actual Disbursements & Transfers       $ 1,625,586,301.58

2025 Actual/Estimated Disbursements & Transfers         $ 2,634,522,144.00

2026 Proposed Budget of Disbursements & Transfers     $ 1,794,110,331.00

2026 Necessary Cash Reserve   $ 328,587,464.00

2026 Total Resources Available          $ 2,122,697,795.00

Total 2026 Personal & Real Property Tax Requirement    $ 243,671,990.00

NOTICE OF MEETING

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Councilmembers of the City of Omaha will meet on August 12, 2025 at 6:30 PM in the Legislative Chambers of the Omaha/Douglas Civic Center, 1819 Farnam Street, in Omaha, Nebraska. The purpose of this special meeting is to hold a public hearing for the 2025 proposed budget. The proposed agenda, kept continually current, shall be available for public inspection in the Omaha/Douglas Civic Center at the Office of the City Clerk, but the Council shall have the right to modify the agenda to include items of an emergency nature only at such public meeting when convened.

Waiver of Section 55-186 – Variance to the maximum impervious surface coverage from 50% to 71%; to the maximum building coverage from 40% to 50%; and to the rear yard setback from 25’ to 0’ to allow a newly constructed covered patio to remain; 2116 Castelar St.

Waiver of Sections 55-87 & 55-740(e) – Variance to the maximum building coverage percentage from 5% to 12%; to the maximum impervious coverage from 10% to 17%; and to the hard-surface driveway requirement to allow for a storage shed; 10909 N. 126th St.

Waiver of Section 55-186 – Variance to the minimum lot width from 50’ to 41’ to allow for a replat of the site into one lot; 1219 & 1221 N. 53rd St.

Waiver of Sections 55-206, 55-742(b)(2), & 55-715 – Variance to the minimum lot width from 40’ to 33.75’; to the minimum lot size from 4,000 sq. ft. to 3,375 sq. ft.; to the required front yard setback on a double-frontage property from 35’ to 25’; to the parking regulations to allow parking in the front yard setback in a residential district; to the minimum street yard landscaping depth from 55% to 40%; and to the minimum depth from 15’ to 0’ to allow for the construction of two single-family homes with a two-stall parking pad in the front of each; 2432 & 2436 Larimore Ave.

Waiver of Sections 55-186, 55-742(b)(2), & 55-715 – Variance to the minimum lot width from 50’ to 40’; to the parking regulations to allow parking in the front yard setback in a residential district; to the minimum street yard landscaping from 60% to 50%; and to the minimum depth from 15’ to 0’ to allow for the construction of two single-family homes with a two-stall parking pad in the front of each; 4219 & 4225 Laurel Ave.

Waiver of Sections 55-84, 55-87, & 55-734 – Variance to the use regulations of the AG district to allow a General Office use; to the required number of off-street parking stalls from 139 to 41; to the maximum building coverage from 5% to 12%; and to the maximum impervious coverage from 10% to 20% to allow construction of an addition to an existing foundation and family office building; 10718 N. 84th St.

Waiver of Sections 55-186 & 55-734 – Variance to the required number of off-street parking stalls from 2 to 1, and to the street side yard setback from 15’ to 11’ to allow for the construction of four single-family homes; 3526 N. 44th Ave., 3716 N. 43rd St., 4102 N. 41st St., & 5814 N. 27th Ave.
