Frequent flyers may want to take a trip to Eppley Airfield this week to sign up for a program to allow them to pass more quickly through airport security.

The U.S. Transportation Security Administration is operating a temporary application center for its TSA Precheck program through Friday afternoon in the conference center in the terminal of Omaha’s Eppley Airfield.

Travelers enrolled in TSA Precheck or similar U.S. Customers and Border Protection trusted traveler programs can keep their shoes, belts and light outwear jackets on during screenings. Program participants can also leave their laptops and quart-sized bag of liquids in their luggage.

A five-year membership in TSA Precheck costs $85 and must be paid by credit card, money order or by company, certified or cashier’s check. Cash and personal checks won’t be accepted.

To enroll, bring documentation proving identity and citizenship or legal residency status – such as a passport or a state-issued identification card and birth certificate. Fingerprints are also collected to complete a background check.

The Eppley Airfield center will be open from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. through Thursday and then from 7 to 11 a.m. and noon to 4 p.m. Friday. Travelers can pre-enroll online and make an appointment to visit the center, or walk-ins are also accepted on a space-available basis.

Successful applicants will be given a Known Traveler Number after about a week, which they can use when booking flights.

For more information, visit flyoma.com or tsa.gov/precheck.
