The Nebraska Paralegal Association Fall Seminar will be available to members both in person and virtually this year.

The two-day seminar will take place at the Scott Conference Center at Aksarben Village from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 22, and Thursday, Sept 23.

The seminar will offer 10 sessions over the two days, including Linda McGrath-Cruz, who works for Royal Caribbean Cruises as a civil litigation paralegal in the company’s risk management department. She has more than 23 years experience as a civil litigation paralegal.

McGrath-Cruz also owns and operates Perfectly Paralegal, a Miami-based online resource community for paralegals that offers support services and hours of continuing legal education. She will discuss the importance of trial binders and other tips for trial preparation.

NePA’s fall seminar will also feature Drew Goletz, national director of discovery engineering for Avalon Document Services, who will be joined by Sam DelSenno, the managing partner of Avalon’s Omaha office. They will discuss the potential pitfalls of reviewing email using Microsoft Office, and how to effectively use metadata.

Additional panels include:

• Medicaid Fraud — Mark Collins, Nebraska Assistant Attorney General and director of the state Medicaid Fraud Control Unit

• Guardian Ad Litem — Joni Visek of Visek Law

• COVID Employment Law Update — Erin Schroeder, attorney at Koley Jessen

• Medical Records Management and Preparing Chronologies — Katie Gabriel, paralegal at Fraser Stryker
