The American education system is stuck in an out-moded design for learning. The change the world is going through is accelerating, and we need to radically redesign how we support children and youth. Whether it’s the infusion of artificial intelligence into our world, or the need to solve the existential problems facing our society, our education system needs to address the real question: What do our learners need to succeed today and in the future?

Nebraska’s government website provider has the state over a proverbial barrel since it halted new online development projects more than a year ago, asking the state to kick in hundreds of thousands of dollars for the upgrades to its software.

Public-opinion polls are a snapshot in time, and results can change quickly in politics as events intrude. But the polls have been sending Democrats and President Biden the same election warning for months, so perhaps they’ll eventually start listening.

The Omaha Daily Record is in the process of publishing a series of reports informing the metro on the new streetcar that is scheduled to come to Omaha. It’s a controversial project, but then again name a major development in Omaha that hasn’t been met with some controversy.

Nebraska is home to over 100,000 of our most honorable American heroes. These heroes left home and family to follow a call. They showed grit and dedication throughout taxing training. They fought hard for their homeland and made countless sacrifices. Many of them made the ultimate sacrifice — they sacrificed their own lives to protect others.

Imagine Nebraska’s economy as a big ladder that reaches from poverty to prosperity. Most of us like to believe that we got to our place on the ladder through our own hard work, and we want to believe that others closer to the ground are perfectly capable of climbing as high as they would like.
