Published by Nikki Palmer on Tue, 04/18/2023 - 2:00am

“Some friends and I started a high-tech business a couple of years ago and formed a Delaware corporation to run the business. We live and work in another state but were told that Delaware was the place to be for tech startups (it may have been one of your columns, actually ...).

We formed the corporation online to save money, and it seemed like everything was OK.

Since the start of the new year, I’ve been working on solutions to some of the most consequential issues facing Nebraskans. My colleagues and I have introduced legislation related to everything from unleashing American energy to investing in our national security.

Without The ‘Want To,’ Consequences Predictable, Permanent

Published by Nikki Palmer on Fri, 04/14/2023 - 2:00am

On March 27, death quieted the culture wars. Peace came with a painful price, however.

That morning an unwell and unregulated militia member took two legally purchased weapons of war to a Nashville school and opened fire, murdering three 9-year-olds and three adults.

Common-Sense Community Banks Distinct From Large Bank Speculators

Published by Nikki Palmer on Tue, 04/11/2023 - 1:00am

The financial sector has been under intense scrutiny after the failure of two large financial institutions that specialized in high-risk industries, such as the cryptocurrency sector. Some depositors in local communities might be wondering what this means for their hard-earned money, and rightfully so.

Your Political Rivals Aren’t As Bad As You Think – Here’s How Misunderstandings Amplify Hostil-ity

Published by Nikki Palmer on Mon, 04/10/2023 - 1:00am

U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene drew raised eyebrows when she suggested on Presidents Day that the United States pursue a “national divorce.”

Even in an era of seemingly ever-growing political polarization – and despite Taylor Greene’s record of making controversial statements – the proposal shocked members of both political parties.

Centering Race: Why We Need To Think About Gentrification Differently

Published by Nikki Palmer on Thu, 04/06/2023 - 3:00am

When we think of gentrification, we often think of how a neighborhood’s demographics and landscape are transformed. Luxury apartment blocks replace single family homes. Trendy cafes replace independent businesses. Affluent families and businesses move in, often pushing out longstanding residents who can’t afford to stay.

State Chamber, OTOC Urge Worldwide Net To Lure Workers

Published by Nikki Palmer on Tue, 04/04/2023 - 2:00am

We offer cheers from “greater Nebraska” to two noted but not naturally allied metro groups for joining to rally Nebraskans to solve a mutual challenge.

It’s the imperative need to bolster Nebraska’s workforce, which The Telegraph and our longtime sister paper, the Scottsbluff Star-Herald, explored at length last Sunday.

Securing Our Southern Border

Published by Nikki Palmer on Mon, 04/03/2023 - 2:00am

Recently, Senator Fischer and I returned from an oversight visit of the southern border. We heard directly from Border Patrol personnel about the challenges they currently face and the lack of support they’ve received from the Biden administration. This disorder caused by the president’s inaction has made every state, including Nebraska, a border state.

Brand Names Sometimes A Bust

Published by Nikki Palmer on Wed, 03/29/2023 - 2:00am
