Recently, Senator Fischer and I returned from an oversight visit of the southern border. We heard directly from Border Patrol personnel about the challenges they currently face and the lack of support they’ve received from the Biden administration. This disorder caused by the president’s inaction has made every state, including Nebraska, a border state.

I drive a Tesla. It’s fast and fun … a rocket off the line, a champ on the freeway. I’m shallow enough, too, that I occasionally smile when passing a gas station. When fuel topped $5 a gallon, I may have even laughed aloud once or twice. Other than that phantom braking thing that scares the holy bejesus out of me occasionally, I’m pleased with my Tesla.

It is counter-intuitive that taking a break increases productivity, but rest is very important to productivity. We all have busy lives, often we push off rest and relaxation. However, many great thinkers throughout history have emphasized the importance of rest. Their words on the subject can inspire us to take rest more seriously.

Nebraska has seen an alarming increase in the number of young people who use e-cigarettes.
From 2015 to 2021, rates of e-cigarette use by high school-aged people rose from 9% to 14%, and those who have tried an e-cigarette for the first time increased from 19% to 30%, according to the Nebraska Youth Tobacco Survey.

Sen. Steve Erdman of Bayard appears willing to upend Nebraska’s Legislature in an attempt to preserve outsized rural representation against the reality that half of the state’s population now resides in Lancaster, Douglas and Sarpy counties.
His proposal, contained in LR2CA, would replace the state’s one-house Legislature with two houses.

Four years ago this month, our home of Nebraska experienced a uniquely challenging natural disaster. A severe winter storm, a bomb cyclone, caused historic levels of flooding from Nebraska rivers, resulting in the tragic loss of life as well as destruction to homes, businesses, infrastructure, and farmland.

It’s an idea that seems like common sense to an overwhelming majority of us.
