Biden Says It’s ‘Vital’ For U.S. Steel To Remain Owned And Operated By Americans

U.S. Steel should remain a domestically owned and operated company, President Joe Biden said Thursday, implicitly rejecting an attempt by the Japanese company Nippon Steel to buy the iconic U.S. manufacturer.

Biden issued a brief written statement Thursday morning that did not name Nippon, which announced a deal in December to acquire Pittsburgh-based U.S. Steel.

More People Are Traveling To Nebraska To Get Abortions. Only One Surgical Abortion Clinic Remains

Nebraska is now down to one surgical abortion provider less than a year after lawmakers passed a 12-week ban.

The Bellevue clinic founded by the late Dr. LeRoy Carhart – once one of only three providers in the country to perform third-trimester abortions – no longer does surgical procedures but does offer patients abortion pills, clinic employees confirmed to the Flatwater Free Press.

Nikki Haley, whose unlikely trajectory from polling in single digits to becoming Donald Trump’s last remaining rival made history for women in Republican politics, is suspending her presidential campaign. 

Haley announced her decision during a speech in Charleston, S.C., Wednesday morning, after a series of defeats on Super Tuesday all but closed off her path to the nomination.

Questions About LB 574 Combining Abortion And Gender-Care Restrictions Reach Nebraska Supreme Court

LINCOLN — Attorneys challenging and defending Nebraska’s new law combining tighter restrictions on abortion and gender-affirming care for minors made their case Tuesday to the state’s high court.

The Nebraska Supreme Court heard arguments in Planned Parenthood’s appeal of a Lancaster County District Court ruling that it was legal for the Legislature to fold a more restrictive abortion measure into Legislative Bill 574, whose original purpose was to limit gender-affirming care. Planned Parenthood is being represented by attorneys for the ACLU.
