Nebraska Passes Bill Requiring Dyslexia Reports, School Dress Codes, Teacher Compact

LINCOLN — Nebraska school administrators, get out your No. 2 pencils. The Legislature just gave you two new assignments and a little help in hiring teachers.

On Wednesday, state senators approved Legislative Bill 298, which merged K-12 education proposals, tracking dyslexia, clarifying school dress codes and streamlining hires of teachers from other states.

Democratic Attempt To Expel Santos From U.S. House Handed Over To Ethics Panel

WASHINGTON — The U.S. House on Wednesday agreed on a motion to refer to the Ethics Committee a Democratic-sponsored resolution to expel New York Republican Rep. George Santos from Congress.

The motion led by Republicans was approved 221-204, with seven Democrats voting present.

Medical Marijuana Advocates File Petition To Place Issue On 2024 Ballot

LINCOLN — Advocates for medical marijuana announced plans Thursday to mount an initiative petition drive to place the issue on the 2024 ballot.

The group, Nebraskans for Medical Marijuana, filed papers Thursday with the Nebraska Secretary of State’s Office.

Racial Disparities In HIV Epidemic Persist In Nebraska, U.S. Despite Advancements In Treatment

It started with a weird breakout on his face.

So Tommy Dennis, who was 22 years old at the time, had the bumps checked out by an Omaha dermatologist. The doctor told him that the breakout looked like the symptoms of a potential  HIV infection. "Then he ordered a blood test. I came back a week later and found out that my test came back positive."
