OMAHA — In the officially nonpartisan Nebraska Unicameral, the Democratic-leaning minority bloc currently has 16 seats, including progressive Omaha nonpartisan State Sen. Megan Hunt.

That means the Legislature’s partisan minority, when united, needs Hunt and at least one GOP defector to stop legislation the group opposes. Republicans, when united, hold a narrow supermajority of 33 seats that can overcome them.

‘Truth Or Fake’ Refreshing Development In News

Published by maggie@omahadai... on Mon, 11/17/2025 - 12:00am

Nebraska’s news junkies and even casual information consumers have full plates: the potential resignations of a University of Nebraska regent and a state legislator; a federal immigration detention camp that materialized on an apparent need-to-know basis in an infinitesimally narrow reading of who needs to know; and, with less than a year from 2026’s midterm elections, political campaigns are giving news and information patrons thousands of opportunities to wonder what is the truth.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Jeffrey Epstein wrote in a 2019 email to a journalist that Donald Trump “knew about the girls,” according to documents made public Wednesday, but what he knew — and whether it pertained to the sex offender’s crimes — is unclear. The White House quickly accused Democrats of selectively leaking the emails to smear the president.

“Riots Raging”: The Misleading Story Fox News Told About Portland Before Trump Sent Troops

When President Donald Trump told reporters on Sept. 5 he’d started looking at sending the National Guard to Portland, Oregon, he said it was because of something he saw on television.

He said the city was being destroyed by paid agitators. “What they’ve done to that place, it’s like living in hell,” he said, a comment that became an internet meme as some Portland residents juxtaposed it with tranquil images of the city.
