President Trump put some pressure on Governor Pillen, so Governor Pillen then put some pressure on the members of Nebraska’s Government, Military, and Veterans Affairs Committee and got winner-take-all to go before the General Assembly. Pillen hopes that if Nebraska buckles to the wishes of President Trump, the President will support him or at least not go against him, and support Pillens former foe Chuck Herbster should he decide to run for governor again.

Let me start by saying, for the record, that I support any and all religious beliefs as long as they are not using their God as a tool to justify hurting other people. As you know, historically some churches of all religious denominations have started wars or terrorist attacks in the name of their God.

Mike McDonnell is banking on the hope that voters have short memories or no recollection of the past.
It’s understandable if they don’t remember. After all, voters have jobs, families, and a lot of other things on their minds. So, when they see a TV ad for McDonnell with former Omaha mayors PJ Morgan and Mike Fahey, they either weren’t around or don’t remember what happened under those mayors decades ago.

During my talk radio days, I often pontificated about how we need to cut the size of government and get spending under control. I would ask callers to call in and tell me where they would cut. But there was one caveat. They could only cut a program where they received a benefit. In other words, they couldn’t say cut food stamps unless they were on food stamps, or farm subsidies unless they were a farmer.

“I’m just one person what can I do?”
I’ve heard variations of that comment from a number of people who are frustrated with what they see going on in Washington D.C. They feel helpless to do anything about the chaos, turmoil, and long-term damage this administration is doing. As an individual, they want to do something, but they don’t know what they can do. There are times I feel that way myself.

We are fortunate here in Omaha to have incredible medical facilities. CHI, Methodist, and Nebraska Medicine all provide amazing health care. The research hospitals are constantly working to discover new and innovative ways to treat both common and rare diseases and disorders.

They say the more things change, the more they stay the same. And the reason they say that is because time and time again, it’s proven to be true.
I thought of that the other day when one of Governor Pillens’ Legislative Priorities made it out of committee. LB140 is the bill before the Unicameral that would not allow children in grades K-12 to use a cell phone in school.
