3 Finalists Picked for Sarpy County Juvenile Court

A judicial nominating commission forwarded the names of three nominees for the Separate Juvenile Court for Sarpy County on to Gov. Pete Ricketts on Tuesday.

The commission members selected Jonathon D. Crosby of Omaha, Katrine M. Herrboldt of Papillion and Patrick R. Runge of Omaha for the vacancy that was created by the retirement of Judge Lawrence D. Gendler.

Crosby has been of counsel to Vacanti Shattuck Attorneys since 2013, primarily practicing juvenile and criminal law and serving as a guardian ad litem for juveniles. Prior to that, Crosby was an assistant city prosecutor for the City of Omaha (2006 to 2013) and a deputy county attorney in Seward County (2003 to 2006). Crosby is a 2003 graduate of the University of Nebraska School of Law.

Herrboldt has been a contracted juvenile law attorney for Sarpy County since 2018. Prior to that, Herrboldt had a solo juvenile law practice in the Omaha metro (2010 to 2018 and 2005 to 2006), was a case review attorney for the Court Improvement Project at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Center for Children, Family and the Law (2010 to 2011), an associate attorney for Thomas G. Incontro PC LLO (2006 to 2010). Herrboldt is a 2005 graduate of the Creighton University School of Law.

Runge has been a judge in the Winnebago Tribal Court since 2003 and has been chief judge since 2010, as well as a chief judge of the Ponca Tribal Court (2014 to 2020) and an adjunct law professor at Creighton since 2012. Runge has worked as a drug court defense counsel in Washington Counrty (2015 to 2019), an authorized child support attorney in Washington Court (2016 to 2017) and as a public defender in Winnebago Tribal Court (1996 to 2003). Runge is a 1994 graduate of the Creighton School of Law.
