Banks, Grocery Stores Among Businesses Adjusting to Virus
Grocery stores have struggled to keep certain items – bread, dairy, bottled water, pantry staples, cleaning products – in stock as area residents follow advice to stock up on two weeks’ worth of supplies.
The Nebraska Grocery Industry Association said Friday that there is plenty of food, though, even if paper product and household chemicals remain in short supply.
“We have a very schedule supply chain,” Gov. Pete Ricketts said. “As Nebraskans heed calls to prepare for coronavirus, we know that some products are being purchased faster than they can be restocked.”
In a release Saturday, Nebraska Bankers Association officials said many banks would close lobbies to the public, but ATM, drive-through and digital channels will be open.
“Providing safe and reliable service is a key priority for every one of our member institutions, especially in challenging time,” said Alan Emshoff, CEO of Generations Bank in Exeter and chairman of the bankers association.
