I. Call Meeting to Order- After the 

presentation of Years of Service Awards, President Allyson Slobotski called the meeting to order at 6:08 P.M., noting the Open Meetings Act is posted on the south wall of the Board Room.

 

II. Pledge of Allegiance

 

III. Public Forum- Three members of the 

public were present to speak.

 

IV. Consent Agenda (Note: Items on the 

consent agenda are considered routine and will be enacted under one motion. There will be no separate discussion of these items at the meeting unless a Board Member requests an item removed from the agenda for separate action.)

MOTION PASSED:  Motion to approve

V. Items Removed from the Consent 

Agenda for Separate Action- No items were removed from the Consent Agenda.

 

VI. Reports- Elementary, Middle School, 

High School, Student Services, Curriculum, and Superintendent presented reports to the Board.  Policy and Curriculum reviewed committee meetings held.  Coordinator Report- Foundation- Dr. Haack presented the Board with information on the growth of the Foundation and future plans.  Lobbyist Julia Plucker was present to give a summary of Legislative Bills and their progress.  Spotlight- Dr. Hoge and Dr. Shannon Thoendel presented information regarding the curriculum cycle, review, purchasing and adaptation of the new reading curriculum, Amplify CKLA.

 

VII. Unfinished Business

VII.A. Discuss, Consider, and Take Action 

on Curriculum and Personnel Proposals- The Committee moved to recommend for approval 2.0 FTE middle school teachers, 0.5 FTE in the specialized areas of elementary Music, PE, and Library Media, 0.5 FTE high school PE, two high school 0.5 FTE Family and Consumer Science or Skilled and/or Technical Science, 1.0 FTE Early Childhood Coordinator and 1.0 FTE High School Resource Teacher.

MOTION PASSED:  Motion to accept the 

recommendations by the Curriculum and Americanism Committee and administration for 2023-24 curriculum and personnel modifications and additions as outlined in the May 2, 2023, Curriculum and Americanism Committee Report and pending 2023-24 budget approval, passed with a motion by Kara Neuverth and a second by Jeremy Dick.  Jeremy Dick: Yea, Kara Neuverth: Yea, Kristi Ryan: Yea, Steve Shannon: Yea, Allyson Slobotski: Yea

 

VIII. New Business

VIII.A. Discuss, Consider, and Take

Action on Summer Maintenance and Repair Projects- Mr. Edens, Coordinator of District Facilities, recommends the main focus for facility maintenance projects this summer will be repair of existing facilities and the oversight of several minor construction projects.  Mr. Edens would like the district to approve the installation of a security fence and gates around the new bus barn parking lot. There have been several instances of vandalism this year due to the lack of fencing.  Mr. Edens would also like the District to purchase a UTV due to growth and to purchase an additional zero turn mower to based out of the high school cave.

MOTION PASSED:  Motion to authorize the 

superintendent to enter into an agreement with the following company(s) for the purchase outdoor equipment and fencing, at a cost not to exceed and, as presented: 2023 Cushman Hauler 1200 EFI Gas with a cab and a dump bed: $11,800, Security fence and gates around the bus barn parking lot: $19,600, and a Z-Trim mower at the cost of $8,000.00 from J&J Small Engine, passed with a motion by Allyson Slobotski and a second by Steve Shannon.  Jeremy Dick: Yea, Kara Neuverth: Yea, Kristi Ryan: Yea, Steve Shannon: Yea, Allyson Slobotski: Yea

 

IX. Time and Date of Next Regular 

Meeting June 12, 2023, at 6:00 pm at the Bennington District Board Room.  Committee Meetings to be Determined.

meeting at 8:25 p.m., passed with a motion by Steve Shannon.  All in favor.
