NOTICE INVITING BIDS

The City of Omaha, acting as Agent for the owner, invites bids for the LEAD HAZARD CONTROL OF DWELLING UNIT at:

2432 Laurel

Closing Time:  3:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 8, 2020

Sealed bids are invited and will be received on or before the closing time, as per specifications on file in the office of Rehab Division of the Planning Department, Room 1111, Omaha/Douglas Civic Center.

Sealed bids to be addressed to Rehabilitation Division, Room 1111, Omaha/Douglas Civic Center marked “Bid on LEAD HAZARD CONTROL OF DWELLING UNIT,” with the address and job number identified, must be on file in this office on or before 3:00 P.M. on the closing date, at which time the bids will be opened and read by the Rehab Division before bidders and the public in Room 1111, Omaha/Douglas Civic Center.

Attention is called to the fact that not less than minimum salaries and wages as specified by the U.S. Secretary of Labor as set forth in the specification may be paid on the rehabilitation work.  The contractor must, furthermore, ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of race, color or creed, sex or national origin.

The bidder must file a certificate of insurance with the Rehab Division evidencing comprehensive public liability insurance coverage protecting the property owner for not less than $1,000,000 per occurrence, $2,000,000 aggregate arising out of the work performed by the contractor.  Evidence of workman’s compensation insurance must be shown prior to receipt of the order to proceed with the work.

The owner reserves the right to accept, reject, or negotiate any or all bids in whole or in part.

"NOTICE OF THE SITTING OF THE CITY COUNCIL AS A BOARD OF EQUALIZATION"

To the owners of lots, parts of lots and pieces of real estate described herein and all being within the City of Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska.

 

You are hereby notified that the City Council of the City of Omaha will sit as a Board of Equalization in the Legislative Chambers in the Omaha/Douglas Civic Center, Omaha, Nebraska, at least one day from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M., commencing APRIL 7, 2020, for the purpose of considering and equalizing the proposed levy of special taxes and assessments prepared by the Finance Department, and now on file in the Office of the City Clerk, and correcting any errors therein, and hearing all complaints that the owners of property so to be assessed and taxed may have to be made; said special taxes and assessments proposed to be levied being necessary to cover  the actual cost of cut-ting and clearing weeds, grass and worthless vegetation and the penalty for violation pursuant to Sections 18-21 to 18-30 of the Omaha Municipal Code.

The respective amounts proposed to be assessed have been determined by the actual cost of cutting and clearing weeds, grass and worthless vegetation by the City and the penalty for violation provided by Sections 18-21 to 18-30 of the Omaha Municipal Code.

 

You are further notified that said proposed plan of assessment is now subject to the inspection and examination of any of the owners of said lots or pieces of real estate, or any other person interested in said proposed assessments at the Office of the City Clerk, and that it is proposed that unless for good and sufficient cause when it may be otherwise ordered and determined, the cost of said cutting and clearing of weeds, grass and worthless vegetation shall be assessed on the several lots and pieces of real estate, as shown herein, and by said proposed plans.
