The Daily Record traces its roots to 1886 and has remained a mainstay of the Omaha legal and business community for more than a century.

An independent voice in the Omaha media landscape, The Daily Record has remained privately owned. Its a member of the Associated Press, but it is not part of any corporate media group.

For generations, the Henningsen family owned and operated the newspaper. A.H. Henningsen (1907-1987) was the publisher for decades, and his son, Ronald A. Henningsen (1944-2011) took over upon his death. Lynda Henningsen assumed the role of publisher upon her husband's death, and she has remained involved in the paper since Jason Huff was named publisher in 2019.

The Daily Record received the Omaha Bar Association's inaugural Public Service Award in 1983 and the Nebraskas State Bar Association's Award of Special Merit in 2012. Individually, Ron Henningsen was recognized in 1994, and Lynda Henningsen was recognized in 2019. Lorraine Boyd, the paper's longtime local news editor, was also recognized by the OBA upon her retirement in 2019. A.H. Henningsen was the Nebraska Press Association president in 1961, and The Daily Record has remained committed to advocating for independent news media.

The newspaper is proud of its stellar reputation and how much it has given back over the years.

“The Daily Record provides a tremendous service to the Omaha legal community," Senior U.S. District Judge Joseph F. Bataillon said in a 2019 interview.

“I trust The Daily Record,” Senior U.S. District Judge Laurie Smith Camp said in 2019. “I would not hesitate to give an interview to The Daily Record."

As The Daily Record looks forward, the newspaper remains committed to serving its readers, the Omaha legal community and the greater good of the community.
