Lancaster County will keep its election commissioner for a sixth consecutive term.

Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts re-appointed David J. Shively of Lincoln as the election commissioner for Lancaster County.

Shively was first appointed in 1999 by Gov. Mike Johanns, who reappointed him in 2003. He was also re-appointed in 2007 and 2011 by Gov. Dave Heineman, and Ricketts also re-appointed him in 2015 – marking 20 years of service to Lancaster County.

Nebraska governors appoint the election commissioners for counties with a population in excess of 100,000 – that is, Douglas, Sarpy and Lancaster counties.

Rickets also recently named Suzann B. Seline and Theresa L. Thibodeau, both of Omaha, to the Judicial Nominating Commission for the Separate Juvenile Court of Douglas County.

Other appointments the governor announced last week include:

• Nebraska Capitol Commission: Trent D. Loos of Litchfield and Thomas F. Sanderson of Omaha.

• Collection Agency Licensing Board: Roxanne Rae Kracl of Fremont and Stephen A. Lindgren of Lincoln.

• Corn Development, Utilization and Marketing Board: Deborah J. Borg of Allen. David D. Bruntz of Friend and Adam M. Grabenstein of Farnam.

• Nebraska Craft Brewery Board: Nathan Bell of Broken Bow, William Boyd of Hastings, Joshua C. Christensen of Fort Calhoun, James Gillick of Lincoln, Kristine Koch of Lincoln, Zachary Triemert of Omaha and Annette Wiles of Plattsmouth

• EPSCoR/IDeA Committee: Jerry Hudgins of Lincoln and David Jackson, Lincoln.

• Grain Sorghum Development, Utilization and Marketing Board: David A. Junker of McCook, Scott D. Nelson of Axtell and Duane L. Vorderstrasse of Hebron.

• Homeland Security Policy Group: Gary J. Anthone of Omaha, Christopher Cantrell of Lincoln, Jason Anthony Kruger of Lincoln and Dannette Smith of Lincoln.

• Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission: Stan Belieu of Sidney.

• Nebraska Invasive Species Council: Brent Meyer of Denton and John Thorburn of Holdrege.

• Jail Standards Board: Brad Alexander of Plattsmouth, Daria Anderson-Faden of Kimball and Keith Harvat of Omaha.

• Nebraska Potato Development Committee: Tyler C. Backemeyer of Kearney, Adam Naslund of Cody, Troy Sorensen of Alliance and Zane Walker of Scottsbluff.

• ServeNebraska – Nebraska Volunteer Service Commission: Amy Hall of Phillips, D. Kare Heilbrun of Mitchell, Dawn N. Hovey of Omaha, Christine Legband of Fremont, Marjorie Maas of Papillion, Deborah Neary of Omaha, Wayne A. Nestor of Stromsburg, Sheila O’Connor of Lincoln, Amy Hall of Phillips, Joseph E. Popevis of Lincoln, Jennifer Strako of Phillips and Paige Zamora of Lincoln.

In addition, Ricketts also has nominated Timothy L. Else of Belvidere and Jan K. tenBensel of Cambridge to the Nebraska Ethanol Board, which is subject to confirmation by the Legislature.

“Thank you to the many Nebraskans that give generously of their time and talent to make a difference in our state,” Ricketts said in a news release.
