Posting Information: Notice published in the Daily Record on 07/10/2026.  Notice of meeting posted on the District website.  Agendas posted at all Bennington Public School buildings three days prior to the meeting date.  

 

I. Call Meeting to Order- Board President Allyson Slobotski called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m. noting the meeting is governed by the Open Meetings Act, which is available on the south end of the room.  

 

II. Public Forum- No members of the public were present to speak.  

 

III. Consent Agenda- (Note: Items on the consent agenda are considered routine and will be enacted under one motion. There will be no separate discussion of these items at the meeting unless a Board Member requests an item removed from the agenda for separate action.)

Discuss, Consider, and Take Action to Revise Policies- There were ten proposed policy revisions recommended by Perry Law and the Policy Committee.  These are new state statutes and are not optional policy updates.  Policy 1007.00 Education Agency Relations, Policy 804.02 Data or Records Retention, Policy 605.07 Part-time Enrollment, Policy 502.06 Transfers Out, Policy 502.02 Nonresident Students Option Enrollment/Policy 502.02R1 Regulatory Document, Policy 503.01 Compulsory Attendance, Policy 505.03 Suspension and Expulsion, Policy 611.07 Graduation Requirements, Policy 203.01 Organizational Meeting, Policy 204.07 Meeting Notice.

VII. New Business-

VII.A. Discuss, Consider and Take Action to Reaffirm the Student Fee Policy- The board held a public hearing to discuss, consider and receive input on the District’s student fees policy.

VII.B. Discuss, Consider and Take Action to Reaffirm the Parental Involvement Policy- The board held a public hearing to discuss, consider and receive input on the Parental Involvement policy.

VII.C. Discuss, Consider and Take Action to Approve Time Requirements of Mandatory Staff Trainings- The resolution includes training on: Behavioral Awareness Point of Contact, Dating Violence, Suicide Prevention, Threat Assessment, Behavior Intervention/Classroom Management, and Behavioral Awareness Training.

VII.D. Discuss, Consider and Take Action on Short and Long Term Substitute Rates- Each year, the BOE must approve the short- and long-term substitute rates for the upcoming school year.

VII.E. Discuss, Consider and Take Action on Approval of MOU with Bennington Foundation for a Video board at Bennington High School with District Contribution- Over the past several months, district administration, Board of Education committees, and representatives from the Bennington Pubic Schools Foundation (BPSF) have worked collaboratively to explore the feasibility of installing a videoboard at Badger Stadium.  The Foundation will contribute $300,000 toward the approximately $390,000 project, with the District providing the remaining funds that had already been designated for a scoreboard replacement. The new videoboard will enhance the experience for students, families, and the community during football games, track meets, soccer matches, band events, and other activities, while also creating opportunities for student learning, community engagement, and future revenue generation through the Foundation in advertisements and sponsorships.

 

MOTION PASSED: Motion that the Board of Education approve the superintendent to finalize a Memorandum of Understanding with the Bennington Foundation for the purchase and installation of a new videoboard at Bennington High School and authorize a district contribution of approximately $90,000 toward the project, passed with a motion by Steve Shannon and a second by Kara Neuverth.  Jeremy Dick: Yea, Tim Dreessen: Yea, Kara Neuverth: Yea, Joe Pick: Yea, Steve Shannon: Yea, Allyson Slobotski: Yea

I. Call Meeting to Order- Board President Allyson Slobotski called the hearing to order at 6:00 p.m. noting the meeting is governed by the Open Meetings Act, which is available on the south end of the room.  

 

II. Review of the amount of money collected from students pursuant to, and the use of waivers provided in, the student fee policies of the District for the 2026-2027 school year- The Bennington Public Schools’ Student Fee Fund had a beginning balance (9-1-25) of $72,656. The Student Fee Fund collected $12,233 in revenue and had $8,311 in expenditures, leaving a current balance of $76,558. 

 

III. Hold Public Hearing to discuss, consider, and receive input on the Student Fee Policy- The board is required to hold a public hearing to discuss, consider, and receive input on the District’s student fees policy. No members of the public were present to speak.  

 

IV. Hold Public Hearing to discuss, consider, and receive input on the Parental Involvement Policy- The board is required to hold a public hearing to discuss, consider and receive input on Parental Involvement policy.  No member of the public were present to speak. 

 

V. Adjournment- Motion to adjourn the Hearing at 6:03 PM made by Allyson Slobotski and seconded by Tim Dreessen.  All in favor.
