PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
The Ralston City Council will hold a public hearing at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. The purpose of the public hearing is to consider the 1st reading of Ordinance No. 1285, an ordinance providing for the sale of Lot 1, Serum Industrial Park Replat 1. Public comments will be accepted. An agenda will be kept current and available for public inspection at the Office of the City Clerk, 5500 S. 77th Street, Ralston, Nebraska 68127. Written comments should be addressed to the City Clerk at the above address.

The Ralston City Council met in regular session on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at 5:30 PM at Ralston City Hall. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Roll was called with the following present: Mayor Groesser and Council members Brousek, Fideline, Kavanaugh, Krause, Sanchez (via ZOOM) and Preis. The agenda was available at City Hall for public inspection and posted prior to the meeting. The legal notice for the meeting was published in the Ralston Recorder and/or the Daily Record. Claims listed are approved and part of these minutes.
Pastor Tessa Zehring, Trinity United Methodist Church, gave the invocation. Mayor Groesser welcomed the press and guests. Groesser said the meeting is subject to the Nebraska Open Meetings Act. A copy of the Act is posted at the rear of the Council Chambers and is available to view on the City’s website at www.cityofralston.com.
Reviewed the following items under the consent agenda: (1) Minutes from the April 20, 2021 regular city council meeting; (2) Claims; (3) Arena Financial Statements ending March 31, 2021; and (4) Department Head and/or Commission Reports. Moved and seconded to approve the Consent Agenda. Aye: Brousek, Fideline, Kavanaugh, Krause, Sanchez, and Preis. Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.
Freshman reported the small panel replacement project will begin soon. Krajewski reported on arena events. Hoppe reported on the strategic planning sessions coming up. Hoppe reported the City of Omaha’s mask mandate expires on May 25th. He suggested Ralston should stay in line with that to avoid confusion. Hoppe reported the Independence Day Parade on July 4th is moving forward.
Groesser presented a proclamation declaring May 9th to 15th, 2021 as Police Week and May 15th, 2021 as Peace Officers Memorial Day to Police Chief Leonardo.
Kavanaugh introduced Ordinance No. 1281. Russell read Ordinance No. 1281 by title only: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING A SECTION OF ARTICLE 17 OF CHAPTER 10 OF THE RALSTON MUNICIPAL CODE DEALING WITH RESTAURANTS AND OTHER DRINKING PLACES OCCUPATIONAL PRIVILEDGE TAX, SUSPENSION OR REVOCATION OF OTHER LICENSES; TO REPEAL PROVISIONS IN CONFLICT THEREWITH; TO PROVIDE AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND TO AUTHORIZE THAT SAID ORDINANCE BE PUBLISHED IN PAMPHLET FORM. Moved and seconded to approve Ordinance No. 1281 on third reading. On roll call vote, the following votes were recorded on the electronic voting board. Aye: Brousek, Fideline, Kavanaugh, Krause, Sanchez, and Preis. Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.
Fideline introduced Ordinance No. 1282. Russell read Ordinance No. 1282 by title only: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 9, ARTICLE VII, SECTION 9-701 AND 9-702, OF THE RALSTON MUNICIPAL CODE TO ADOPT THE 2021 RALSTON PLUMBING CODE; TO REPEAL ALL PROVISIONS IN CONFLICT THEREWITH; TO PROVIDE AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND TO AUTHORIZE THAT SAID ORDINANCE BE PUBLISHED IN PAMPHLET FORM. Moved and seconded to approve Ordinance No. 1282 on third reading. Aye: Brousek, Fideline, Kavanaugh, Krause, Sanchez, and Preis. Nay: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.
Public comment: There was no public comment.
Council comment: Brousek thanked Chief Leonardo for all the hard work his officers do. He also thanked Freshman and all the public works employees for the work they do throughout the City. Groesser extended his appreciation to the Police Department and all the City departments.
The meeting adjourned at 5:44 PM.
There is a strategic planning session on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Ralston Arena. The next regular meeting is Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 5:30 PM.
