LINCOLN — Former President Donald Trump spoke by phone Wednesday with at least one of the two dozen Republican state senators who attended Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen’s winner-take-all meeting at the Governor’s Mansion.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — Donald Trump on Tuesday pledged to stop U.S. businesses from shipping jobs overseas and to take other countries’ jobs and factories by relying heavily on sweeping tariffs to boost auto manufacturing — despite warnings that domestic consumers would pay more and a lack of specifics about how his plans would work.

"He believed the rhetoric of Biden and Harris, and he acted on it," Trump said of the gunman hiding on his golf course. "Their rhetoric is causing me to be shot at, when I am the one who is going to save the country, and they are the ones that are destroying the country -- both from the inside and out."

(AP) — Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday made his first public appearance since Sunday’s second apparent assassination attempt against him, speaking to an crowd chanting “God bless Trump!” and “Fight, Fight, Fight” as U.S. Secret Service agents surrounded the stage to protect him.
