Public Asked To Conserve Water In Lower Platte River Basin, Which Includes Omaha, Lincoln Areas

LINCOLN — Drought conditions in eastern Nebraska are prompting recommendations to proactively conserve water when irrigating lawns, washing clothes and even brushing your teeth.

The City of Lincoln last week instituted voluntary conservation steps, including alternating which days residents should water lawns and gardens.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Lawmakers this year have kicked rival colleagues out of office in Tennessee and off the chamber floor in Montana. They have staged walkouts in Oregon and filibusters in Nebraska, where interactions are so fraught that some lawmakers say they're unsure they can work together anymore.

Nebraska Passes Bill Requiring Dyslexia Reports, School Dress Codes, Teacher Compact

LINCOLN — Nebraska school administrators, get out your No. 2 pencils. The Legislature just gave you two new assignments and a little help in hiring teachers.

On Wednesday, state senators approved Legislative Bill 298, which merged K-12 education proposals, tracking dyslexia, clarifying school dress codes and streamlining hires of teachers from other states.

Democratic Attempt To Expel Santos From U.S. House Handed Over To Ethics Panel

WASHINGTON — The U.S. House on Wednesday agreed on a motion to refer to the Ethics Committee a Democratic-sponsored resolution to expel New York Republican Rep. George Santos from Congress.

The motion led by Republicans was approved 221-204, with seven Democrats voting present.
