Omaha Bar Association Life Time Achievement Award

The Omaha Bar Association announced that Mike Mullin has been awarded the 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award. The prestigious award was initiated at the 2001 Law Day and is only given to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the legal profession.

On a beautiful spring evening, Amelia Rosser, the owner of Sheelytown Market sat at the counter telling me the history of Sheelytown. The door was propped open, and we were surrounded by a charming display of plants and art that are available in the store. It’s the type of place you might expect to see in a walkable downtown area, and not off a busy 4 lane street – an unexpected oasis.

If you’ve heard of the Urban League of Nebraska, but you’re not sure what they do, exactly, you’re not alone. CEO Wayne Brown, self-proclaimed reformed lawyer that graduated from Creighton Law in 2009, is often asked to speak at events on behalf of the organization.  He finds that when he’s in rooms, there are often two audiences. People who have a deep history with the League and know all about it…and those who never have heard of it.

Trees provide the roots that help communities thrive.

Neighborhoods with trees are several degrees cooler in the summer heat, and their shade and protection from winter winds help reduce energy costs by up to 25%, according to the Arbor Day Foundation.

Nebraska Dyslexia Association: Detangling The World Of Words

The Nebraska Dyslexia Association (NDA) works to advocate for individuals with dyslexia and ensure they have effective multi-sensory learning, as well as ensure education for professionals to provide adequate support. Originally part of the International Dyslexia Association starting in 1981, the NDA split off into its own organization in 2011.
